How It Works
The process depends on what your target state requires. We research the requirements with you before your appointment so there are no surprises. We serve clients submitting fingerprints to California, Oregon, Florida, Idaho, Montana, Arizona, Texas, New York, Colorado, Nevada, and all 50 states.
You will need your ORI numberΒ the identifier provided by your target state’s licensing board or agency. If you’re unsure what your ORI is, call us and we’ll help you figure out who to contact.
Option 1
We capture your fingerprints digitally at our Vancouver office and submit them electronically to the receiving state’s system. You receive a TCN to track your submission. Fastest and most accurate method.
Option 2
If your target state requires mailed fingerprint cards, we complete your FD-258 card in Vancouver using professional ink-roll fingerprinting and mail it directly to the state agency via USPS Certified Mail with tracking.

An ORI number (Originating Agency Identifier) is a unique code provided by the requesting agency in the other state. It tells the fingerprint submission system where to send your results. Your out-of-state licensing board, employer, or the state agency requesting your fingerprints will give you this number usually on the application instructions or confirmation letter. Do not guess this number. Using the wrong ORI will send your results to the wrong agency.
For California DOJ fingerprinting from Washington State, you can use a LiveScan service configured to submit to California, or roll FD-258 ink cards and mail them to an approved California live scan provider who will convert them to digital format for DOJ submission. AI Fingerprinting can help with both methods. Contact us at (360) 998-7302 to confirm the correct process for your specific California licensing board.

The fingerprinting appointment itself takes 15 to 25 minutes. Processing time after submission depends entirely on the receiving state’s agency some states return results within 3 to 5 business days for electronic submissions, while mailed FD-258 cards can take 4 to 12 weeks depending on the agency’s workload. We always recommend submitting as early as possible before your license deadline.
