If you just started a job and your employer asked you to “get your I-9 verified,” you need someone to look at your original ID documents in person and complete Section 2 of Form I-9. In Vancouver, WA, AI Fingerprinting does this for $50 at 201 NE Park Plaza Dr #221. This guide covers where to go, what to bring and how long you have.
Who can verify an I-9 in Vancouver, WA?
Federal rules let your employer complete Section 2 itself or name an authorized representative to do it. An authorized representative can be any person the employer chooses. Your options locally are:
- Your employer’s own office, if it has one nearby.
- A local authorized representative service such as our I-9 verification service in Vancouver, WA, which is the usual choice for remote employees and out-of-state employers.
- A notary acting as an authorized representative. This is allowed, but the notary is not notarizing anything and should not stamp the form.
What to bring to your I-9 appointment
Bring original, unexpired documents. Photocopies and phone photos are not accepted. You need either:
- One List A document, which proves both identity and work authorization, such as a U.S. passport or Permanent Resident Card; or
- One List B document for identity, such as a driver’s license, plus one List C document for work authorization, such as a Social Security card or birth certificate.
The full list is on the USCIS acceptable documents page. Also bring the Form I-9 your employer sent you, with Section 1 already filled in, and any instructions about who should be named as the authorized representative.
How the appointment works
- Book a time. Schedule online or call (360) 998-7302.
- Document review. Our representative examines your original documents with you present and checks that they appear genuine and relate to you.
- Section 2 is completed and signed. The form goes back to you or your employer, following your employer’s instructions.
How long do you have?
You complete Section 1 no later than your first day of work. Section 2 must be completed within three business days of your first day. If you start on a Monday, the deadline is Thursday, so book early in the week.
